Oh dear!

Welcome to the 2s report which will be shorter than usual this week!

We welcomed Percy Park 3s who contributed respectfully to our minute silence for Paul Sturgess who will be very much missed by everyone for being around and the stalwart of the club he was.

We had recorded a straight forward bonus point 40odd something win at Park early in the season.

The Park team that lined up on Saturday bore no resemblance to that fixture earlier this season.

Having said that not much should be read into this as Sunderland 2 teams often change dramatically due to player availability on a weekly basis.

In summary we were truly dreadful in the first half and shipped 25 unanswered points. We seemed unable to defend more than 3-4 phases as Park duly took advantage without ever really having to try to hard.

A challenge was set to the team at half time to play much more aggressively and be more tenacious certainly in defence.

To be fair the team responded with some excellent tackling in particular from centre Dom Younger and a 2nd half cameo from Colin Wallace.

We were missing a number of our experienced players and had some very young players on show today this had a significant impact as we looked like 15 strangers for most of the match.

The bottom line is if the majority of 2s players train regularly this type of performance won't occur again but at the minute the majority don't train so something has got to give either our good results so far or more players at training. You decide!

MoM Dom Younger tackled to a high standard through the the full 80 minutes, stood out.

Onwards and upwards the focus is on the good defensive effort of the 2nd half and building from there.
