This weekend, Sunderlands Keelmen end their League campaign at home on the Brooke (weather depending). What a place to have their final league game. From a franken-team of players who would play in any position asked at the start of the season to a team with many regulars and more structure than ever before there is no doubt how far this team has come in the space of a year. From winning 2 games in the 2021/22 season to now winning 8 games this season (not including walkovers) the Keelmen have made some real progress this season, mainly put down to the training provided by the Senior Coaches and an increase in Keelmen training numbers.
Whitley Bay is a ferocious opponent after beating our lads 70-0 early on in the season we are looking to make it an even playing field. The progress the keelmen have made this season will be tested tomorrow and it is lining up to be an interesting game.
After this, the Keelmen are looking to finish the season strong with the County Cup Quarter final match against either Gateshead or DMP Elizabethans.
Kickoff tomorrow is 2PM with the Six Nations shown in the club afterwards.
As the Lads say..... "What a feeling, WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING IN THE KEELMEN!" (think Lionel Richie's Dancing on the ceiling)
