Sunderland Junior Colts bounced back from their disappointing result last weekend to register a home win at Ashbrooke. Playing with a changed side including three players on their home debut Sunderland fought back after conceding an early unconverted try through a well worked forwards try, Callum Sammonds with the 5 points converted by Joe Hodgson. Blyth added seven more points when a break from their centre split the Ashbrooke defence for a touch down that was easily converted for a 12-7 lead. Before the break Sunderland took the lead again when a pick up from the back of a scrum 5m out saw Clayton Walker power over under the posts. The try was again converted by Hodgson.

The second period saw no score with a missed penalty each the only scoring opportunities as both team's defences worked tirelessly. However, the home side managed to close the game out with some intelligent use of the boot by Aaron Wall and excellent scrummaging by front row debutant and man of the match Jake Cowens.
