With almost a full team available for the fixture, Sunderland U11s went into the game against Durham City full of confidence and hoping to get a win against both a strong Durham team and an old friend.
Unfortunately it was not meant to be on the day and Sunderland suffered defeat. Despite this heavy loss all the boys done the shirt proud and stayed strong, keeping their heads held high until the final whistle went.
Although we may have lost there was alot of positives to take away from today's game.
Each and everyone of the boys deserves a mention for the way they acted and played today. Man of the match went to Max Houlden for some superb tackles and strong running. Louis Jones, Matt Neville and Shaun Donkin-Nunn all played well in the forwards and kept the ball safe at the breakdown. Alex Tuckwell and Joe Whelan both had very good games at Fly Half and Scrum half respectively with some impressive kicks and tackles from both lads. Todays big tackles came from Marcus Taylor, Owen Charlton, Owen Tyson and Cam Holder.
Overall the lads played very well and were very unlucky not to get on the score sheet on what proved to be a frustrating and cold sunday morning.
